I just wanted to chime in here to say that I ordered an under-the-hood M2 on Oct. 14th, it shipped on the 15th, and I got it yesterday (the 19th).
I almost didn’t order because of the issues mentioned in this thread, so for anyone else wondering if they’ll “get their stuff”, the answer is yes, and quickly too.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Yes, caution is the name of the game when you’ve got a device that is connected to two different voltage sources. In this case it’s possible to make a mistake and send the car’s 11-15V through the USB port. USB ports don’t like 11-15v. I’ve actually broken two different laptops that way but the other time didn’t involve an M2. So, I have a lot of experience in blowing up laptops with high voltage.

Anyway, I should have followed up here. The Macchina folks got slammed with orders and delays, but they contacted me to works things out. I’m happy with their service. From the looks of the store, they have caught up their backlog.
