I keep on crashing my CAN network when I use M2 with savvycan.
For speed I use 125k and 500k and select read only.
Body-CAN (low speed, 125 kbps) bus
and 500K is for Engine ECU.
Any idea what I do wrong?
I always connect the adapter ONLY when the car and computer is off. And disconnect under the same circumstances. If your crashing the network WHILE your connected I would say make sure your fully connected.
I have noticed if I connect or disconnect any ODBII device while the car is on it can cause issues. I have stalled my engine while going down the road and disconnected a “normal” ODBII dongle requiring me to quickly shift to neutral, turn off the key and restart the car to reset the car. NOT fun while on the Expressway.
Interesting, I have not experienced this with my 2010 Impreza.
I have lost my cluster on my '03 Chevy Avalanche and that was about the worst of it. The Cluster “rebooted” its self about 20 seconds after but my '09 Cadillac CTS threw a bunch of alarms on the cluster and weird stuff popped up on the DIC when I removed a USB based ODBII scanner (Scantool SX tool). That is also the time it stalled the car out. I was able to shut the key off and restart right away but still…
So I don’t suggest plugging or unplugging the unit unless your stopped and the key is off.
Not sure if the same thing holds true when connecting the M2 to your computer but I would expect it when connecting/disconnecting the ODBII dongle. Your throwing noise on the CANBUS network and depending on the network you could confuse the whole works. Dunno. Just sharing what happened to me.
